A timer for time blindness.

Tempo is a visual timer for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. It shows how much time is left as a picture, for people who lose track of time without noticing.

What is time blindness?

Time blindness is the name people use for losing track of time without noticing it go. An hour passes in what felt like ten minutes. A deadline that seemed weeks away is suddenly this Friday.

It isn’t a diagnosis. The phrase comes up most around ADHD, and some autistic and other neurodivergent people use it to describe their own experience too.

Why a picture?

A countdown like 18:42 is exact, but you have to read it and work out what it means. A picture that empties is meant to be read at a glance, even from across the room. Tempo shows both: the picture, with a small countdown under it that you can turn off in Settings.

What Tempo does.

You set a timer and pick one of seven pictures, such as sand blowing away or a snowman melting. For longer stretches there are six scales, from one minute to one year. The hour and day scales follow the clock, and the month, season and year scales follow the real calendar, for weeks that disappear as well as afternoons.

The widgets and the Apple Watch complications keep your scale in view without opening anything. There’s no account, no streaks and no ads.

Try it free.

Tempo is free to download with the Dots visualization. Pro is a one-time $4.99 that adds the other six and the Season scale, with no subscription. More about Tempo.
